Old glass and vinyl siding BUYERS????

i am not sure but i believe that glass is only around 8 dollars a ton

You can call a city / county that has a recycling program, and ask who they sell their materials to. I'm under the impression that glass has to be sorted by color. Vinyl I don't know about.

I used to take glass to a recycling place and I was told that they would not take window glass.

Most places only take beverage glass, and not windows.

Those that do generally want it cleaned too, and sorted by color. Green, brown, clear etc...

the ones that would take dirty glass tended to pay a lot less for it.

the average rate tends to be a penny or two a pound for it.

id recommend going through the phone book or a google search or something like that. for example glass recycling jacksonville florida, see how many hits you get.... yellowpages dot com is also a good place to global search for recycling sites.

It sounds from your question that you want to sell glass and vinyl siding in bulk since you are inquiring across the state of Michigan. It does depend on the quantity you intend to sell. In the recycling business if you have anything in enough quantity someone, somewhere will be interested in buying it. For glass and plastics you need quantites in the thousands of pounds to make paying for the freight worthwhile. A website you need to check out is www.recycle.net which deals with large quantities of materials to be recycled including glass and plastics. You can register on this website for free to post ads to sell your materials. Now if you have just a couple of hundreds of pounds of glass or plastic nothing will really happen on this website for you most likely. This website does have prices and scrap grade descriptions.

What the forum members posted previously on prices for glass is about right. Again if you have truckload quantites it will be higher. Plastics in large truckload quantities run about 6 to 12 cents per pound. One other thing to do is to check with glass replacement businesses in your area to see how they dispose of thier scrap glass. Regards, Chris.
