The day I found the Trapper pocketknife I found this in the middle of my backyard. pretty deep. Maybe a foot 1/2. I was determined to see what it was. Kinda scared because I read in an old history of the town that my yard could be possibly part of a local Church's graveyard. Didn't want to come across any body parts. :o So I dug up this gear thingy. It is heavy. 4 inches across. There was some railroad tracks that were dug up across from our yard behind our garage. Might be something to do with the railroad maybe. OhioDeb

Is it flat on both sides or is one side convex? First thing that popped into my mind was part of a meat grinder.

Looks like a chain sprocket off of a piece of old farm machinery.

............or ... such a universally used gear that one will never be able to determine what it is from.
