Drove out into the country to a spot a work aquantence told me I should try ! An old foundation left from a small house right near a swimming hole on the river that was suppossedly moved to another location in 1856 ! It was a beautiful enjoyable day even though I didn't find much of anything . The first pic is what is left of the foundation . I shut the camera off and started swinging and right away on the lip of the foundation I got a big hit and dug a nice old spoon ! I thought this was a sign that the place had not been hunted ! Boy was I wrong ! There was iron stacked up on most of the rocks everything piled nice and neat . Just buttons ond bobs ! Maybe next time ! Thanks for looking ! MaineRelic

Love the old lip-chimney older from an early oil lamp burner. :o That piece dates from 1865 to 1875. Love the look of the old spoon too! :laughing7:

Sorry about my first post, I guess I jumped the gun a little. :-\

I was told that the original house was built in 1812 and moved up the road to a new lot in 1856 ! There is no visible hallmark on the copper spoon . MaineRelic
