I'm surprised the bullets didn't go off in the fire! Some very nice items that cleaned up well. How old is the fort? Congrats!

Nice finds What's the bullets from?

The bullets probably did pop off in the fire. I found the cartridges and projectiles separately and glued them together. It's Fort Howard in Maryland. It opened as a Coast Artillery fort in 1900, became an infantry post in 1925 and closed in 1940. I think when it closed they just cleaned out every building and tossed old uniforms and equipment in the fire pit.

The long bullets are 30.06 used in Springfield rifles and the short ones are .45 cal pistol ammo.

Wow nice assortment of artifacts. congrats.
