old flat military button?? - SOLVED

Found this this morning at a farm house dating back to the 1800's, there was also an old foundation dating to the 1700's nearby. It is the size of a quarter and flat, it has an eagle on the front holding a branch in one claw and not sure what in the other, and what appears to be US at 7 and 6 o'clock on it. along the top is writing that looks like...something ...OREG...Any ideas?? ???

Compare this to the early 19th century 6th Regiment Infantry officer's button listed as #GI 53 6N in Albert's button book.

Looks like a match to me... great find!

PBK...you come thru once again (no surprise there!!) that is a match to the button I found, it is definitely a 6, not a G, on my button and matches to waht you sent for a pic. Thanks once again for your accurate Identification. I greatly appreciate it!!!
