Going thru some boxes of stuff acquired over the years and came across this...

IMG_0227 (697x1024).webpIMG_0224 (573x1024).webp

It's mounted onto a solid piece of 9/16" thick gilded wood.
It appears to have plenty of age to it.
The tile measures 4"x 8".
It is a raised 3d impasto style tile.

It is also signed but I cannot make it out myself.

Anyone, thoughts?

Ok then, how about the clothing the dude is wearing? 18th century? French or Italian maybe? And what's up with the mask?

Could be the mask is a Masquerade Ball mask, popular in Europe among the elites.

Signature is hard to decipher, look at it different ways and you see something else.

JEDIAH
TERIAH
Etc.

Sorry I cant be more help, I've been looking at the signature for two days now.

Interesting piece for sure.
Based on the color of the glaze, the subject pictured and the crazing, I'm thinking it's 1950s Italian.

If you could show us a pic of the back this would be helpful.
