Hi all!

Hit an old 1800's farmhouse yesterday and picked up a few cool things. Got a silver rosie, a slick-as-heck copper that just I can just barely make out is a braided hair large cent, and this... thing.

It's thin and ornate, and was twisted into a pretzel when I found it. I planned on taking it home to carefully bend it back it, but when I handed it to the homeowner he goes: "Oh yeah, this thing? It was once flat like this." He then proceeded to twist and unpretzelified it in two seconds flat. I would've cringed if it were something valuable, but it was pretty hilarious. He actually did a decent job, lol.

Anyway, our first instinct was it must be part of an old oil lantern. But where would it fit? It's kinda too huge for that, right? Or am I wrong?

My first impression was it's from a large oil lamp...maybe like they would have had hanging from the ceiling in an old store or meeting hall.. somewhere they would have needed a lot of light.

Probably something like thisil_794xN.1666922196_dux0.jpg

62 Corvair hubcap, ... jk:)

I agree with digger. Lamp or gas light part. Maybe part of a more ornate stove? I've found bits of something similar that I think might have been part of a chafing dish.
