Hi

I found this yesterday and I think it's an old farm tool, but how old?
Any information you can give me on this is much appreciated.

Thanks

You also asked how old, I think that style of hoe has been made from the late 1800s to present....so your guess is as good as mine. If you are on a site that has other "datable" items from a specific period, you can probably put the date on the hoe in that era.

And welcome to Tnet!! :icon_sunny:

Odd that it's round though. A hoe, or an adze - a beefy hoe shaped tool for squaring up logs, usually have a flat cutting edge. Adze for shaping troughs?

How big is this thinghy? Nothing to reference size in the images or write-up. :icon_scratch:

I think it probably used to be "squared", but lots of use has rounded the corners. I don't think it is an adze because it don't seem "beefy" enough.

How big is it? How thick is it? How heavy is it? Kinda' looks like a counterweight for a crankshaft, but it looks too light weight. But who can tell? Monty

Hi

Here is what I have been finding in the same area as the farm tool.
I do believe it to be a garden hoe, but I'm trying to zero in on a date for it.

Thanks
