Awesome 1873 Indian head. The worn out coin is a 1857 flying eagle but sooo toasty. Nice lock but it's broken. I pulled a 1890 Indian couple mercs and wheats a nice crotal bell another real nice brass lock the silver buckle that's my pic. And of coarse the best find was the 1915 sears chief bicycle head badge

The other stuff I mentioned was last year that's why I didn't post pics

Awesome finds !! love the merc...partial to them, the design and art work of the old silver puts today's clad to shame..Thx for sharing ! ddf

Man, you got that right. I love the old coin designs too. Especially the Merc and IH.

Sweet coins BCP. Congrats,
MM

Live to see silver .. The Indian head was stuck to a 1919 wheat.. I found other Indians but not in this nice of shape they r normally about gone. Not to mention the date . That was my oldest coin ever. Then I remember digging the flying eagle, I thought it was a zinc penny at first. Weak tone it was shallow and being as toasty as it was. Well I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that needless to say haha. New record for me. Broke my record twice within a half hour apart

Great finds, the lock is sweet!

8-)

Well Done !

Ten inches of snow here in Cape May County but that should be the last of it

Thank You Lord

Very nice finds...like the piece wiuth HUDSON on it....my last name..hehe

Nice Indian Head! 1873 had 2 varieties, an "open 3" and a "closed 3". The difference was the distance of the upper and lower arms to the middle protrusion. I can't see it all that well, but it appears you have the open 3. "Liberty" is intact, subtract a grade for dug coins, say Very Fine, which Red Books at $125. eBay market says $85, may increase to book value if you get it graded. It looks good enough for grading, your soil is kind to your coins.

Thanks guys .. Was a nice hunt if the lock was intact it woulda been a sweet find. I am completely amazed at the condition of the Indian head as well. Most wheats are almost gone and Indians where pitted like crazy. The flying eagle is gone. So weird that little indian preserved so well. It was stuck to a 1919 wheat, might have played some role. The wheat doesn't look good though.

I believe it's a closed three. Either way it's my best coin find. Price wise I should say. To bad it's not the ole double Indian!
