Four hours of MD'ing over an area around where an old estate mansion once stood (and the existing smaller staff building) did not produce the kind of old stuff that I had expected ... but fun nevertheless! The mansion was built around 1890-1900 and was demolished in 1992. The grassy area now full of trash. The 1929 Merc was the highlight. Any idea what the long item is on top?? GD :)

Then again it doesnt look like a horse bit, i think Huntr1 is on the rights track, as it goes vertical and is hung on something as you can see by the solid ring on one side and the open hook on the other side to hang something on.

A very nice looking merc. Could be more, perhaps an enhanced program might squeek out that needed inch or so to get to the rest. I sure wouldn't call it quits yet. Good luck...

Good stuff!

is this place located on rt 385 in greene county on the hudson river? if it is i spent over 90hrs on this spot and came up almost empty that was back in the mid 80s

I've seen that piece of metal or something that looked very close on a horse bridle from the 1800's...it may be the part that connects the reins to the bridle.
Dano.
