Had a great dig yesterday with eastcoasthunter at one of our researched spots. Pulled 7 large coppers, all much toasted, I'm slowly brushing away some dirt and a classic eagle shape is appearing. Looks like this reverse has eagle with stars. I tried researching colonial and early American coins (and tokens), but nothing similar. Any I'd help would be appreciated!

Look at the obverse of an 1815 capped bust Quarter I know the metal composition is wrong but maybe you have what is left of a counterfeit. The size is right also 27mm.

Thanks for the suggestion, the eagle shape seems similar. However the copper coin I have is a bit larger (even in its worn condition). And I believe the coin I have has stars above the eagle, not text with banner.

That brown crud should chip off pretty easily with a fingernail without scratching the coin.

I've done that to many coins, usually end up with flat disc. Once I know it's not a rarity I will consider that option ;)

May be a bit out their , could it be a old carwash token ?

The newest coin found at this spot was 1914 barber dime. This was much deeper, hope it's not a car wash token [emoji15]

Again, what does the other side look like?
It looks to me like it may be a button from the era of the coins suggested.

Didn't answer u because the other side is not worth showing, it's toast, Swiss cheese, nothing identifiable.

Perhaps you should consider electrolysis I've seen that do some remarkable things.
