Old Drive-ins

We have several old driveins in my area but they all have those darn limestone gravel parking lots that are like concrete!

yeah same here, what isn't paved is like concrete! I at one time concidered asking permission to hunt there as they have a flea market when the movies aren't playing, but it'd be impossible to dig!

Impossible? Come now, no such talk. Buck up now, ol' chap.

Seems there was another topic a couple weeks ago about gravel lots. Somebody said they used a small pick and made short work of digging in gravel. Hey, if I heard a good ping in gravel, the word "impossible" is not going to happen. :D

That was Probably Me :) I use one in Gravel Lots.

Not even waist-deep mud can stop Jeff! Gravel? Ha, ain't nothin'. ;D

the Only thing that's stopped me so far is Black top Drive ways. & I'v got some Intresting signals under them already. Just Havn't got the Nerve to chop thru? ;D

We hit one in Idaho that was bare dirt, and we found about a dozen silver coins, a lot of clad, and wheaties. My friend walked away with a few rings. Some are in very obvious places, and coins are still available.

Most all drive ins in our area are paved over with new business'es on the properties.. 10/15 yrs back or so, you could find 1 here and there to hunt but, as some guys here say, they were mainly gravel and extremely hard to dig in. Also, the guys from the late 70s and thru the 80s had already pounded them so hard that, the few I've managed to detect were left with not much of anything to find. I did find a silver roosevelt and a school girl ring at 1 which just recently was developed (2 yrs ago). That was the last out of 5 in this area. They're all gone now..
