I recently bought several old "Lost Treasure" magazines off of ebay from the late 70's and early 80's and they have ads for quite a few defunct metal detector companies. I was wondering where are all of these detectors now? Never see them on ebay or any place else for that matter. Do any of you have old detectors whos manufacturer is long gone? I'm just curious.

They around orygun,

I've had a few that I sold over the years. Some of the people that I sold them to have become detecting buddies. Some of them now use these as back-ups, others have given them to their children and grandchildren. I suspect many of them are sitting in closets collecting cobwebs. Some of the detectors that I have had and sold include:

Compass - Judge II, (early to mid 70's).
Compass - 77B, (early 70's).
Whites - 6000D Series 2. (early 80's).
Tesoro - Mayan (mid 80's).
Garrett - ADS Deepseeker - (mid 80's).

I currently have 3 Garrett Freedom II detectors. I bought the first one in 1986. The other two 2 I bought more recently. These are still good detectors for what I use them for. They don't go as deep as some of the newer top end detectors, but they still do an excellent job of discriminating. They make a good competition hunt machine also.
