I found this today in my favorite park. I don't know what it is - it's pretty crusty. It is slightly larger than a US Quarter but smaller than a Large Cent. It looks like there's a bust facing right and the letters "GR" are visible just above the forehead. The other side is totally illegible but it appears that there were words/ date around the perimeter. The Coin(?) seems to be thicker in the middle, but that might be only because it's worn so badly. Any suggestions?

I think you have a King George I Wood Hibernia Halfpenny - maybe 1723 :) Nice find!

I just pulled this photo off the net but if you google it you will find lots of images to compare.

I think you nailed it Bramblefind! I thought I was seeing things on the back of mine - 1720's. This would pre-date anything I have found in that area by 100 years. Thank you for your help!
