I have no guess. I found a 1783 nova consellatio that was near that condition. It took me almost a week to ID it. Good Find and Good Luck  By the way you have a awesome camera. Wish I could get a close up like that without it blurring out.

It MIGHT be a picker's check. Instead of paying money, a farmer would pay the migrant's in picker's checks, to be redeemed at the end of the week, season, etc, In hopes they would lose them, and not get paid. It looks like a bag of grain. If it is a pc, it's VALUABLE! TTC

Where's Don and Iron Patch when you need them? ;D
Nice find whatever it is.
Hopefully it will get ID'd soon.
Congrats,
MM

Have you weighed it? That may help more than anything.

:-\

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Fantastic close-ups! But I don't have a clue. Maybe do a pencil etching and see if you can make anything else of it? Hope ya find out what it is!

Nana :)

Its a no hope, near blank ::) Sorry, say it as I see.

I think there'd normally be enough detail there for an ID if it were a more common find here--but that detail is nothing that I recognize...

Take the Weight and a Rubbing of the coin before you give up.

Yeah, we may have been able to ID it if it would've had a bit more detail....But this copper is what we call

a "Slug" which is a coin that has had all the detail worn away :-\ I can tell you that its very old, probably mid

1700s but that is about all. It could possible be narrowed down to a few coins that it "might" be by taking

Buckle Boys advice and weighing and measuring it than comparing to other similar coppers of that era. Still a

nice find bud!

Ok, will try to get it weighed somewhere and see what I come up with.
