Hey everyone,

Been slow here hunting lately in the NE. It's hot humid and grown in now. This is the time of yr I slow down. I had a terrible wheat to silver ratio this time. Like 40 wheats to 3 silvers. Hey we all have days like that right. Silver isn't easy to come by. I am up to 61 for the yr. The first 50 came pretty easy.

I was actually on like a week drought or so for a silver coin. Started to think my unit was acting up. But no just didn't get the coil over any. I did however manage to find a few keepers. Got a 1870 sheild nickle first for the yr. A few old tokens. One really old one. It says AM 5 Cent on front and Liberty Old Style Lager on the back. Found it with the sheild nickle so I know it is pretty old.

Just one indian head and a few common silvers. Not much in the coin department. Waiting till the fall gets here to get back at it hard again. Yesterday though I was really proud of my nine yr old son. I got him a new unit a few months ago. A whites IDX pro. Good unit let me tell ya. We were hunting a pounded park yesterday and he comes up to me with a beautiful 1913 barber dime. His first one ever. I was proud of him. Not his first silver but for 9 yrs old a great find for sure.

Now for the big find. We went to the Myrtle Beach area for a week. I was there last sep and the beaches are very slow and hard to hunt. Lots of sand on the beach that really never goes anywhere. Well after 2 days of night hunting things changed. One of those little trucks was out there at like 1 am cleaning up the beach and dragging it.

I decided to go out again and see if I could find anything. This beach is slow. I mean slow. Like you can't even find a clad coin. Well the second signal of the night tells it all. Came in at a 54 on the spectra around 10 to 12 inches down. It actually flew out of my sand scoop and I found it on the surface.

I didn't wanna make a scene so I put it in my pocket. After a few hrs I took it out to look at it under the flash light. I said man it is silver. And I said no it couldn't be gotta be white gold read to low for silver. And low and behold I look on the inside and see Plat. I almost fell over. I don't get excited to often but this one brought a smile to my face.

It is really heavy. I don't have it weighed yet. But I'm gonna say around 12 grams maybe a little more. It says Love Always on the inside with a date of 8/4/06. I was really happy to find that one. I bet someone was upset when they lost that one. I also pulled out a silver ring size 10 with a mystic topaz and two small diamonds next to it.

All in all it was a great trip. Came away with a few nice keepers. Had a great time and didn't end up with a speeding ticket this time. I get one everytime I go to the south. I even got pulled over in NC for having a frame on the licence plate.

Thanks for looking and I will be back again soon with more.

HH Jer

I'll have whatever you're having!!! Those kind of finds would make my year over here. I'd be excited to get what your 9 year old is pulling up. Keep up the good work, your "off" days are still hands-down better than my best days. :headbang:

gorgeous rings! as usual, you continue to be a hunting inspiration to us! i keep waiting to see if your wife will turn you in to that HOARDERS program only to find that you've been turned down because it's all clean and organized. incidently....what takes the most time? the "finding" or the "cleaning"?

it must hurt to have a slow-down season! dan in so cal

Thanks alot everyone

Have had alot of off days as of lately. It has been really slow. Been trying some new places but haven't hit the big one yet this yr. Kids are out of school tommorow so hunting during the week won't happen to often.

The next three months I will pop out here and there over the weekends. Come fall though I got some nice homesteads lined up to go look for. Hopefully I'll get some large coppers this yr also. Got Like 7 or 8 last yr.

I just didn't get a window this spring to get into the woods and foundation hunt. It grew up so fast this yr and so quick. Ticks are really bad also.

Thanks Ron,

Don't know if I am the best but I try really hard to be good lol.

Thanks Dan,

Yeah it sucks. But I am used to it. The seasons are spring fall and winter. The summer is just to hot humid bugs etc.

Thanks Damon,

My boy actually in some ways out hunted me at the park. I had just one indian and one wheat. He had a wheat and a barber. I beat him in the clad count though. 4 bucks to 1. I better watch out. He is gonna be some hunter one day.

He finally is slowing down and not giving up and being rewarded. Hard to teach a 9 yr old patience. He is getting it now. He was mad when I said last night time to wrap it up. He got a little treasure and got the bug.

Take care guys

HH Jer

Congrats on the platinum and other great finds! A little slow here as well but I scored around $12.00 at lunch today. HH, Mike

Great find on the Plat ring. I've been down to the MB area the past two weekends. Slowwww Huntin.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Trying to maine. Gets very stressful at times. I got three boys. 9 6 and 3. We have been all in the woods together before hunting. Lots of good times. Lots of stressful times to.

Yeah,

Been slow here also mike. Raining like cats and dogs. Really wanted to get out today. But the rains are just to much.

This was my first peice of platinum in 16 yrs of hunting. I got some better sites lined up here. Hopefully I can get a few more handfuls of silver before the yr ends.

Yeah the beaches down south are slow. But there are gold rings out there. Just takes time and persistence.

HH Jer

I like the horn mouthpiece you have there. Kind of tough to toot your horn without it.

Hey Jer :hello: Very nice score on the ring.. they pop up when you least expect it.. I was hunting a CW camp the other day (actually the same one I was in today :laughing7: ) and got the same screwcap reading at an inch.. Low and behold it turned out to be a 10 gram, 14K gold wedding band... Also wanted to applaud you on the effort you put into arranging the display of finds.. Thanks for the eye-candy :headbang: :headbang:

Thanks guys,

Yes the mouth peice is and and was deep. Found in a old park. Second one I have found over the yrs.

Umr,

Thanks alot for appreciating the time and effort I put into the post. I like it to be neat and look good for viewing. Yeah it is a great feeling when you hit a peice of gold like that.

I have been on a sort of gold drought. I don't find it alot chasing down old sites. 10 gram ring is about what that plat ring is. May be a little more. I didn't realize how heavy platinum was. 10 times denser than gold. I don't own any platinum.

Thanks again guys

HH Jer
