I found this at a garage sale south of Grand Rapids MI. I love unique items, and for $8, I couldn't pass it up. Some of the carvings are very light, so zoom for detail. The right side of the head reads "Old time is still a flying". The left side of the head reads "Gather ye rosebuds while ye may". It is about 24" tall and about 7" wide. One of a kind? Custom made?

Is it a pocket watch time piece? I have seen something like that was “in honor” of a family member and that’s how they displayed there family heirloom pocket watch.

Great piece!
Unless it's marked by a maker or company , I've no info on it.

Being G.R. was "furniture city" , it could have been that a worker built the case at home and the same or another did the carving.

Kendall college of Art and Design is there too. Who knows what is floating around from there from the past?

The timepiece is not a pocket watch. It appears to be an inexpensive insert. It does say Seth Thomas.
Thank you for all the comments and info, this is my first post.

This type clock was put together by wood workers who build a case/cabinet and then put in a cheep movement like Seth Thomas, or Sessions. The Latin phrase Tempus Fugit is "Time Flies". I would guess around 1905 or so.

24" tall is 2 feet. It isn't a pocket watch, but a mantel piece. The top has the phrase if a NJ beer manufacturer.
"Red Tank Tempous Fugit
American Pale Ale · 5.0% ABV · ~160 cals

Red Tank Brewery · Red bank, NJ"

The phrase "Tempus Fugit" is Latin and goes back to Virgil's Georgics from 30 BCE +/-

It was a common phrase on garden sundials and clocks.
