I found this near an old 1859 school house in western Pennsylvania, about 2 minutes from my house. You can tell it was hinged. The imprinted logo looks like a bugle with a rope on it. I an guessing it is half of an old cigarette case, from maybe Bugler Tobacco or someone? I put a measure beside it so you can get the idea of the size.

Any ideas?

Didn't find a match for your relic but Bugler was certainly a popular tobacco product company.

A bugle wrapped in "brass garland" is representative of the civil war era. Maybe the lid from an old mouth piece case?
