my brother and I got permission early this past week to metal detect two old churches and a school, the twp. owns it all now, my brother stopped and talked to the guy after he had finished up mowing and he said no problem at all, he also told us that back in the woods is an old cemetery, he said he has seen a few head stones but everything is knocked down and grown up.

Right after we got started yesterday he came over and told us of another place he thought of, just down the road there used to be an old WWI german prisoner camp, wasnt sure who owned it but we will do some checking and see if we can find out.

digging was horrible! we each found a wheat and we both also found an indian head, of course I scratched mine horribly! i had a real iffy signal at about 6 inches and it was tightly packed gravel and roots , cant believe i did it, pretty sure I am going to hell to, as i let the F word fly when I figured out what I had done, thank god no one was there except my brother!!

I did not take picture of his, both of his were so crusty you could barely make them out, they will have to soak!

first - the old church we hunted
second - now a garage where the twp. keeps equipment but it is old, rock foundation, the old cemetery is in the woods behind it

my scratched indian!!!!!

Would like to see an end view. could be a tail light housing. I think you're right, though, looks like a hood orniment. Nice find!!! stan...

i agree,, anyone that says they aint done it is digging crater size holes..i belive this helps us to understand our machines better,,

nice finds and seems like a good site.

thanks guys! yeah i think we will have some great finds here, I am excited to get back in the woods and take some pictures of the old cemetery.

Nice story and don't feel too bad, this sort of thing happens from time to time.

Those sites look like some pretty decent finds for the future.
