I found this at an old church, I thought it was a ring at first . It is very heavy , feels like lead, it is thick , it has 6 stones that are light green , dark green , two yellow , red , and pink. it also has a small loop on one side , you can see it in one of the pics. Anyone have any idea what it might be ? I think it is pretty old . I think the church was built in late 1800's or early 1900's.

Re: Old Church Find

I'm gonna say a "homemade mother's ring". That would account for different color stones. Light green-August, dark green-May, yellow-November, yellow-November, red-January or July, pink-October. Just my WAG. Be nice to have a size reference.

Re: Old Church Find

metal might be pewter * mothers ring -- stones are birth stone colors of her kids birth month. dats my guess.

One of my buddies found a similar item this past year. It was lead, with gold gilding... No stones though. We thought it might be a spindle whorl--the one we found--but it was larger than yours. I think your find is too wide to be a ring, but I have no earthly idea what else it could be.

Tiny napkin holder... :-\ Nobody would wear a ring like that for more than a few seconds without taking it off...
