img077.jpgimg078.jpg Me and my daughter went out yesterday metal detecting for the first time in 2015. We found a couple wheat pennies and this unusual looking coin/ token. At first sight in the field I thought it was the adjustment wheel off an oil lantern until I cleaned the dirt off at home and seen it had Chinese/Japanese writing on both sides. It was found in a field where a home once stood back around 1900-1930. I was wondering if any of yall had ever found something like this or any coin dealers know of this kind of coin /token ? Thanks again and hope everyone has a happy treasure hunting year!!!

This cash coin was minted between 1870s and around 1908. Your coin is slightly later being machine struck. It now probably dates from the 1890's to 1908. It may not be minted by china, maybe from near providences.

I will check the mint when i'm at a computer. (I'm of writing this on my phone)

Chinese sewing baskets were popular in the 20' and 30's, and were decorated with beads and coins. I remember both my mother and grandmother had one, and I was intrigued by the coins.
