Old chairs..what type, style ?

Went to a yard sale yesterday, picked up these two old chairs. I've never seen chairs made in this manner or style and would like some ideas about them. they sure are comfy and you can never have to many chairs.

The metal is all cast iron, I cannot find any markings on them.

At first I thought it was a wooden street car seat, but I could not find a match..close, but no match.. Now I think an old wood stadium seat.

wonder how old, I'm not an expert but the way the wood is aged I'd guess 1920's ?
