Hi I got this at a thrift store as someone must have collected old canes as they had some pretty nice ones. I liked this particular cane as the wood and style was nice. I am trying to figure out if this was a weapon kind of cane/walking stick. as the handle is handmade brass and heavy and looks like it could do some damage. Also type of wood that it may be made of. maybe any guesses of the age as well. Any help is appreciated. Size is 34 inches. No hallmarks on the piece.

it could be a weapon once...
the cane appears to be a root...oak or willow were popular...I can not tell from a photograph, sorry.

nice piece, things like this were popular in the 20's-late 30's...even some after the war...
the handle looks like an imitation ice pick...so it could be an early walking stick...had several with a similar constructed tip...
many had shields for each walk a person would do...

Cool cane! I'd carry that one. Looks like an old school rock hammer.
