Hi, I found this today. In New York. Old area that dates back to Rev War. Looks to be a button? Snap style? not sure what type of metal it is. The design looks to be a semi-ornate S with an A or V overlapping it. I attempted to sketch the design on the paper next to the object. Measures 0.46" diameter, about 0.1445" thick, and it 13 grains in weight. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Not sure I agree. Given the shape of the "S," the photo above is right side up. The "S" doesn't make sense turned the other way.

I'm not sure still. I was able to clean the button Some more and can make out some letters and two stars on the backside. Unfortunately, I dropped the button on the tile floor while cleaning and the front face broke from being too thin.

You have no idea how bummed I am. But I'm new to the hobby and have learned some valuable lessons lately regarding cleaning and the like. Thanks for all the help!
