Old button needs ID

Found this in an area thats been more-less abondoned for better than a hundred years. The town of Volcano WV burnt to the ground in 1879 and is about 5 minuted away from me. Found it in a 'bckyard'.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

your button is a great seal button used by the army after 1902. I can't tell if your's was burnt or has black enamel on it. If it has black enamel it is from around WWI but before WWII
I made a mistake and want to correct it I originally said black enamel but the WWI period buttons have brown enamel on them.
