big 003.webpbig 001.webpI have an old button that I would like to have more information about. It is copper with a brass shank. It is 1/2" in diameter with an eagle looking to its left, clasping an anchor. Down both sides of the eagle appear to be gilded olive branches. Sorry the picture is so small, my camera is a cheap one and will not focus in very closely. 004.webp When I found it it was so covered in verdigris that I HAD to clean it...that is why it is so bright.

My guess is a fairly modern blazer cuff button . Any makers marks on the back?

If you could see the button better, you might change your mind. When I found it, it was so covered with verdigris that I couldn't make out any detail. Had no choice but to clean it. That is why it appears so bright. It is of old construction, worn, slightly banged up on the edges. No marks of any kind. It is constucted of three parts...a face place with the eagle and anchor, the back plate with the shank, and a collar formed around the two to join them together. Since I had to clean it, it was obviously copper and not brass, but the shank looks brass.
