I know this may be a long shot cause it's very old and not in the best condition but does anyone recognize the writing I tried over n over again to figure it out and maybe how old it may be thanks image.webp were trying to date the site we are detecting

Most of those were made between 1790s and 1840s. But they are not always a good way to judge the age of a site. They are sort of like a coin. It is easy to pull out your pocket change and have one that is easily twenty years old. Those type buttons were fairly common finds on civil war sites, but were not being made at that time.

Some parts of the backmark are unreadable but it seems to be "TREBLE GILT STAND'd COLOUR". If it does say colour instead of color it is British-made. Flatbuttons with indented-lettering in the backmark date from about 1810 - 1830s/40s.
