Hi everyone,

Found this button on Sunday while out hunting with my son for a few hrs.

It was found on a path almost as soon as I started. It rang a solid 32 on the dfx.

I expected a pull tab. But when I got the dirt out of the hole and didn't see a tab I knew it had to be some kind of metal.

I am pretty sure the button is Australian. It looks really similar to there uniform buttons of the earlier 1900's and late 1800's.

It has 2 weird type dragons facing one another. There is a shield in the middle of them. Then there is that traditional crown they use at the top.

Then at the bottom looks like three ribbons with words. Maybe only 2 of the ribbons have words.

But one to the far right says justice. The back is completely gone on it. The button is almost the size of a quarter and is domed shaped.

Hope one of you all here can put a i.d on it for me.

Thanks again

HH Jer

When Nate and I went out to NY earlier this year and Nate found a button our host let us borrow his button book. It had hundreds of buttons with pictures, dates etc. Nates button was a US made type and we found one very close but not exactly. Your botton might be hard to ID. Good luck.

I was all ready to say Civil War era. But with the ribbon or banner it shows, I really don't know. If it says "Don't Tread On Me" and looks like a snake rather than a banner or ribbon, then it might predate the CW. I see that some of the gold gilt is still there. Excellent find!!! WTG!!! HH

This is an area were I need help myself. I have so many old dug buttons and haven't a clue what most are.

Very nice one you have there.

Hope somebody IDs it for you.

I want to say mabe Canadian , but not sure.....Good Luck ! Nice find!!!

Thanks for all the ideas everyone.

I'm in the same boat. Got alot of unknown buttons.

This one is just one of the few weird one's I have. They all look to be like some kind of uniform button.

They are just to large to be on anything else. Maybe a large heavy duty coat.

You guys have some great ideas that could be right. I guess at some point I'm gonna need to spend a small fortune in some button books.

Nothing comes cheap nowadays. But a great button guide could pay for itself.
