Hey guys, can anyone help identify what I have here? I imagine its an old bullet of some sort but I really don't know. It was found in Pendleton County, West Virginia. I've searched online pretty hard but haven't found anything so far that exactly matches this item. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! SSPX0018.jpgSSPX0016.jpgSSPX0015.jpg

Welcome to TreasureNet MrDerek! I'm not one of the many bullet specialists here, but I know the question will arise as to the measurements of your item. I think I see a star inside a circle on the "nose" of it, but I've been known to see things in a sort of "unique" (wrong) way at times. :tongue3:

It's not in the shape of a bullet, but give us more details. Size, weight and the material it's made from. Where it was found can help too.

But, despite having no expertise, I'll share my opinion that it looks a lot like a shotgun slug, similar to (but not exactly like) the one found here:http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/322519-shotgun-slug-rev-war-bullet.html
Are there any rifling grooves on the side? Again, with my eyesight I can imagine that I see the remnants of them, but...

Added: Oops, I was typing at the same time as Edmund.

I have never been around shotgun slugs, but after looking up images on the web, That would be my guess.

Definitely a shotgun-slug from sometime in the 1900s. The amount of grey-ish patina (oxidation) on it indicates it is older than 50 years ...but it is not an 1800s version of shotgun-slug.

I think you guys are definitely right. After looking at the pictures in the link, I'd say its a shotgun slug also. It measures about 1.5mm in diameter and looks exactly like the one in the other photos. I'm embarrassed to say, but I'm not sure what it is made of(total newby here). It was found in Pendleton County, West Virginia by my great grandfather. He passed away in 1965 so he would have found it sometime before then. I have a whole box of arrowheads, fossils, and other things that he collected around that area. There are some indian mounds there and if anyone is interested in the French and Indian War there is some history with that in Pendleton County as well. (See Fort Sybert massacre). Thanks for the tips and replies!
