The bullet definitely has some age on it, but I don't think it will go back to the civil war. If you look between the groves there are crimp marks. That method of loading came about after the war. But it resembles the sharps carbine.

duggap, thanks for the reply. You may be right. The other items found in that area were from the 1880's but the bullett looked older to me.

I agree, later date on bullet. Looks like it is swaged instead of molded. Swagging pressure causes those little marks in the grooves. Monty
