No question it is a buckle. What size and where did you find it? Any other relics with it?

I found it on an old homestead in mariposa. Thank you for telling me what it was. I had never seen anything like it before. How would you know if its real? It has zero identity markers on it

I can look at the construction and tell it is not a modern buckle, but to convenience yourself, do some comparisons of modern vs. vintage buckles on GOOGLE. :) Breezie

Because of the light construction I would say a Sash Buckle, and like Breezie says...Victorian, You were lucky to get a complete one :icon_thumright:

Awesome. It was my first time relic hunting and it Was cool find for sure. It made my day and all the bullets I found worth it.
