Thanks for the resize on the pics. I can't tell what that thing is in the middle. Kind of looks like a fish then again it does,nt. Obviously had a stone on the right side once. I am clueless as to the origin of this.

The designs on the corners look like swastikas of sorts. :icon_scratch: LOL A FISH? How the heck did you come up with that.?

I did,nt have my glasses on when I first saw it. :icon_jokercolor:
This river has been fished for over a hundred years and at first I thought it was maybe a fishing pin from a club.

Been looking at it under the magnifing glass and think either a deer or goat. It is also non magnetic and appears to be solid copper. No writing, makers mark on it at all.

I should have included a size reference in the pics. It is 2 1/2" X 1 3/4".
The axe and animal are stamped from thin sheet stock and are attached to the back plate with no noticable soldering.

The wife thinks it might be some type of kilt pin brooch due to the type of markings.

I think it is some type of family crest also....a battle axe in family heraldy represents execution of military duty.....and a goats head would be a person who wins through politics, not war...............If its a rams head that means a person who is a leader.....but if it is a stag...then that would mean a person who will not fight unless provoked, a symbol of peace and harmony.........so your wife is on the right track....

Looks to be a woodsman of the world piece. or some other fraternity. Could be symbolism for a hunting group also. Nice item.
