The oldest law office in town will be torn down in a few weeks. This is a small building with a front yard about 10' square. So before it is history I decided to search the small front yard.

My X-T-70 gave me a sharp signal at 39. At about 11" i recovered a brass button. On the front of the button was V.A.M.C. and a logo. On the back of the button was Horstmann Philadelphia.

A little research showed that V.A.M.C. stands for Virginia Agriculture and Mechanical Collage. This collage was establiched in the early 1850. In 1895 the name was changed to Virginia Polytechnical Instituse, then to present day Virginia Tech.

Futher research showes that Horstmann of Philadelphia manufactured buttons with this logo between 1892-1935.

Also recovered a 1918 Wheat penny.

HH Thanks for looking. TomB

Great find and nicely done. :)

Thanks for posting that baby...

Thanks Jim...guess I should have added that I live about 35 miles from Virginia Tech.
I'm also going to donate the button to the University Archive.
