Where are you? US? Europe? Knowing where you found this might help ID.

Possibly the Praetorian Guard, a ROTC fraternity in the 1960's at the University of Texas?

“[h=2]Praetorian Guard 1. Robert Douglas Bailey 2. Daniel Vinton Trevino 3. Daniel Mumford Baughman 4. Danny Thomas O ' Neil 5. Christopher Charles Kelley 6. Lawrence Bradley Miller 7. David Russell Rupp 8. Donald Glen Drummer 9. Timothy Brian Cyr David Russell Rupp Commanding Officer Faron Drew Betchley Executive Officer Timothy Brian Cyr Executive Adjutant Daniel Mumford Baughman Inspector Counting the number of stones in the Capitol might not be the usual way to spend an afternoon, but pledge activities brought newly-selected members of the Prae- torian Guard closer together. Organized in 1963, the Guard took its name from the elite troops chosen to guard Caesar Augustus and subsequent emperors. Although the Roman military unit members enjoyed great status, the Guard was recognized and respected for its code of brotherhood. At UT, the Praetorian Guard, a tri-service ROTC fraternity, maintained this same code in all their activities. Members organized the annual pilgrimage to Dallas for the Texas-OU football game. After the rally on Commerce Street and a Cotton Bowl stand-off, the guard returned to Austin. During the spring, the Praetorian Guard and UT Rifle Team co-sponsored the Central Texas Invitational Rifle Match. High school and college teams from Texas par- ticipated in the sharp-shooting event. 428 Praetorian Guard[/h]”

Sorry Matt, yeah i guess it would help to tell you my location. I found it in Hannibal Missouri, Mark Twains hometown. I researched other old buckles on the net and it appears that the hook on this buckle is the same type as other older buckles. Do you think this is a old one as well?

Hey sub. Thanks for the quick reply! Thats interesting stuff you wrote about the guard. Wish we had a picture of there uniforms, maybe we could see a buckle. Do you think its possible for one of there buckles to wind up in Missouri?

Hi Butch, It is a day's drive from Austin to Hannibal, i imagine it could have ended up there very easily. I will research the uniforms and see if we can put together an identification. The Praetorian Guard hit me as the "P.G." and the ancient (Roman?) war helmet seemed to fit. None the less, that is an awesome buckle and worth cleaning and wearing now! Congrats. Sub

Butch, Many online articles mentioning the Praetorian Guard of UT, Lyndon B. Johnson, and the John F. Kennedy assassination. Have fun with that! Sub.
