old boyscout pin, and something????

i found a few weeks ago, just started to clean up some stuff, the boyscouts pin has a pat date of 1911, is this a older variety also i found a button(pin style) or something, it is copper or brass i believe, any ideas on these two p.s.the shell is a 9mm for comparrison.

Brandon, the "something" appears to be the front shell of a two-piece coat button. The back was probably tinned steel and has rusted away, a fairly common occurrence with buttons of this type. Also, some buttons have a fiber back that can decompose over time.

I believe that the earliest Boy Scout Tenderfoot badges were made and marked by T. H. Foley; later ones were unmarked and made by other firms.

The safety clasp places it in the 1930 to 1950 age range.
