I dont see any writing on it. I have not cleaned it, could be writing under the patina though. Live and found near Kansas City if this might help.

I don't have a name or from where. My mother had that bell. It was a set of three that range in size. I think the pictured one was the smallest one. There was also two candle sticks in the set. The base of the candles were also bells.

They were made out of brass (I think) and would turn greenish and had to be cleaned often. When cleaned they were a dull gold (grayish-gold).

On holidays, the adult ate in the dinning room, while the kids ate in the living room on card tables. When it was time to eat, mom would ring the bells to call everybody together to say grace.

Edit in;

Tony in SC post reminded me that I had one of the bells hanging from a rope by the back door for nine years. The dog would ring the bell when she wanted to go outside. I hated that bell ringing in the middle of the night after a hard day working, sometimes she would have to ring it a couple of times before I would get up.

Looks like some of the brass pieces made in India and sold at variety shops (like World Bazar). Is there any markings inside the lip of the bell? I have a set of three on an old rope. Inside they are marked " Bells of Sarna". They were hung on the door to ring when opened.
P.S. Do a Google on " Bells of Sarna " The S.S.S on your bell is Sajjan Singh Sarna, I would think your bell is from the 1920's.
