Old axe heads (need age)

I agree with mojjax on the general dates.

I have that same axe/hatchet head you show on top there from a site that ONLY dates from 1860s through 1910.  With dozens of makers and probebly no marks left on the iron, it'll be difficult to nail down a specific manufacturer.

Google "axe hatchet antique"

The area we're hunting at dates to the late 1850's now its a ghost town and this house is part of it. Thanks Terry.

i found a tool exactly like the one on the bottom today, i cant figure what the notch in it is for. olso found a 189? v nickel at the same site.

The notch is for pulling nails - it's a roofing hatchet/axe.

I think the bottom one is a broken hatchet head, the top one is a complete hatchet head.

Yes your totally correct top complete the other just the blade. Cool place to hunt hoping to go back soon.
