I joined this site a few days back and have been posting my finds from the past seven months. I bought a new White's Spectra V3i with wireless headset and pin pointer. I have actually been finding a lot of nice things and much of it in very good condition. It's fun to research and learn new things. Also scoring some good antique bottles. I enjoy seeing what others are finding. And thanks everyone for the likes and comments.

I found this car dealer ID tag then learned that this area around Flatbush Avenue was one of the world's car selling hot spots. The early NY driver's licence is from the first few years they were made. I was able to find a site where a collector has all of them so I saw my example with its red paint. The Gargoyle oil can seal dates from the Mobil period before the white Pegasus. Going further back in time I found the steel liner of a surrey or cart wheel alongside a rut in the woods that goes back to the colonial period. tres14.jpgtres15.jpgtres16.jpgtres17.jpg

Great finds! I collect early auto badges and gas/oil related so you have some great items. The tag is early, and most certainly pre 1912 and would have been attached to the wood dash of the early automobile. The dash most likely burned or rotted away leaving behind the tag. Early dealer tags are hard to find.
The Gargoyle seal is the top part of a Gargoyle oil can lid/stopper. If the top part (seal) of the lid/stopper got bent it would fall out of the stopper part. Gargoyle lids are worth more then the generic seal lids. Complete Gargoyle lids are hard to find and can fetch $80-100.
