Old Anchor Date and info

Hi - a relative gave me this anchor. He was in WWII and got it afterwards but have no idea how old or what type of boat it would have been used on. Any info is really appreciated. It is 51" tall and 31" wide. Would this have been painted white or another color? Thanks!
