This was the stubble field we scouted out last week for 45 minutes - only good find was a Livery Button. (When we turned up we noticed it had been disced, that was lucky, as the Wheat Stubble was pretty bad) As options are limited right now, it's time to take risks on fields that are low on the list. If I remember rightly Land-Mag said it used to be old allotments (my question to him is when?, WWI-WWII I guess) :dontknow: 5.5 hours today.
I've done a few fields like this & they are full of rubbish, this never puts us off, well maybe Dad a little :laughing7: We had some great signs in the beginning & thought a hammered was going to pop out at any minute but it wasn't to be...

Medieval Horse Pendant Hanger (shame we never got the pendant) :(
Tudor Buckle
1921 & 1936 Sixpence
A flat/thin lead cow - great shape for a ploughed field (100 years old?)
Corp of Commissionaries Button - circa 1900 (my first)
US Collar Stud (another first)
Strange leaf shaped button
1837 'To Hanover' medalion/token
Broken Jetton
Horse Brass with letters
Blank 17th C Token
Match safe;
'FAREWELL
FROM
THE WOMEN'S BRANCH
1914-1918
BOMBAY PRESIDENCY
WAR AND RELIEF FUND'

Still had some matches in the matchbox :o

Re: Old Allotment Field...

Still a good day Cru :icon_thumright:, I bet you find a hammered if you go back, you do seem to attract them :laughing7:. I found a "To Hanover" token earlier this year, but yours looks better than mine :icon_thumleft:

hammered

With some effort, they must be there, the Church is in site, it has a stream that floods half the field, & its between 2 small Villiages. We have had hammered across the road from it, & others just 1/2 a mile away. Just need to sift throw the rubbish.

Although Dad thinks we have bigger fish to fry, so manybe another year :-\

The lorry looks to be from the 60s.

I was beginning to think that this old keepsake from circa 1918-20 had been refilled with more modern matches but I have no clues on vehicles, it could be 30s as far as I can tell :laughing9:

Well it's definitely a Bedford and the earlier ones are much different. Still 40 odd years in the ground though :icon_thumleft:

Not a bad outing Cru. I like that two-piece button with the 2 Crowns and the crossed Sword and Anchor, very cool! :occasion14:

I liked it as well, being my first one;

Corp of Commissionaries Button - circa 1900 was my guess, the backmark actually dates it to 1888-1889 :icon_thumright:

Really cool. I do believe you are right. It is the perfect size for matches. thanks for the insight!! :icon_thumleft:
