I worked out of town yesterday and brought the Etrac along to hunt an abandoned house that I have permission to hunt. I hunted there once before for an hour, and found 2 Mercs and some wheats. This time I used my 6x8 SEF coil and took my time in the front of the place. It has a lot of grown up bushes and vines around the house, but the rest of the yard is clean. I started out with about 5 wheats and was hoping there would be some more silver in this yard. I got a good signal and was expecting another wheatie when I saw the very worn 1903 Barber in the hole. The finds slowed down until I went to the side of the house and found the Indian and a few more Wheats. I then get a penny signal, once again thinking wheatie and out pops a worn 1923 Merc. The very next signal was the silver Washington. I also found a Jefferson that someone used as a target. Most all the wheats are early. Not bad for a short hunt after work. HH David

Great digs!! Nice score on the silvers. You did awesome for just a short hunt!

Very nice coins, congratulations:hello2:

Wow you dug some cool things.way to go

Nice finds!! Our soil is totally saturated with rain and snow coming, wish I could get out :BangHead: HH

Great job on that dig! I haven't found anything older than 1965 as far as coins go... Argh! Congrats

That's a bummer! There has been some crazy Winter/Spring weather this year, I hope it clears up soon for you guys up north.

Cool finds...is there a mint mark on the 03 barber dime?

Thanks, Do you hunt parks or old home sites? I try to hunt old homes built before the 1940's-1950's. The saying "older the site older the finds" holds true. You got a great machine to lock in on those old deep coins. Keep at it and you will be pulling up old coins soon, Good Luck!

I don't think so, it is worn very thin around the rim and I can't make out a mint mark. Thanks

Hi Super Dave, really great finds, thank you for sharing your hunt!

I was curious about your machines, you our are using the Etrac but do you still use the XLT? Any comparisons between the two machines you'd care to talk about? Thanks in advance for the inputs...............63bkpkr

Silver always makes one smile. Thanks for sharing. It looks like someone used the nickle for target practice, and had a straight aim. Lucky for you he no longer lives there!:)

Lots of great finds! Love the Barber Dime and IH Cent too.

Thanks! I love my XLT and have found a lot of nice coins and relics over the years. I have not used it since I got my Etrac in August of last year. I wanted to upgrade and after some research the Etrac fits into the type of detecting I do. I mainly hunt very old homes and farm fields that are full of nasty iron. The biggest differences I have noticed with the Etrac is better depth, better with EMI, better in iron and you can modify the Etrac more. The XLT is better balanced, easier to swing and it can hold it's own for coins. The Etrac reminds me of what the XLT was 15 years ago as far as newer technology and improvements of the times.
