Found this 14k ring and could use help identifying the crest on the ring. Crest appears to be ivory. I can see a ""genie" lamp at the top of the crest, what appears to be an olive branch on each side of the shield, and in the middle of the crest some hills/mountains and hourglass maybe? At the bottom of the crest is a Latin phrase "Per aspera ad astra" which means "a rough road leads to the stars". I appreciate any help:

1)identifying the crest/shield on the ring (family crest? another meaning? etc?)
2)guesses on how long it was in the sea water based on the gold color/green crust?

And input is appreciated. Thanks!

Super Find!! Looks like a college or university crest to me. Best of luck! :occasion14:

The motto on your ring, "Per aspera ad astra" is the motto of several schools, universities, and fraternities, and the US state of Kansas, among other organizations. Check the list at the following Wikipedia entry, and research the "emblem" associated with those institutions, to find a match for the emblem on your ring. I can see it shows mountains, but the other parts of the emblem aren't clear in your photo. Please post a well-focused closeup of the emblem.

The motto is also used on the exhibit to honor the Apollo 1 Crew. I can't tell much either on the ring but inside the crest itself, it appears to have mountains in the Northwest and Southeast quadrants and Stars in Northeast and Southwest quadrants.

Now that's a great find for a first post.
Welcome to TreasureNet and the What is it forum.
I also think it is a class ring type.
Where did you find it?? I don't mean the exact location, just a general area.
It might give us a better chance to give more info on it.
again great find...
Congrats
