Okie newbie checking in

I have been looking for points for the last 29 years (off and on) and really enjoy reading the posts and seeing all the cool finds. I have artifacts from deserts of Nevada when I was stationed at Nellis AFB but most of my finds come from my home state of Oklahoma. My first point was found on a county road in a ditch picking up cans for cash when I was 8 LOL. I live in Osage County Oklahoma and have a few nice spots but I am looking forward to checking out Missouri this spring in the Union area where my wife's family lives. My next project is a rock shelter with red ocre symbols on the wall that has a lot of flakes washing out onto the hill side complete with grinding holes and odd deep, strait cut marks into a large sandstone near the entrance. When I get out there some photos will be put up to see what you guys think they might be.

Yeah! Another Okie and an Osage countian to boot! There's quite a few of us on here, ammo_u! I can't wait to see what you find! Me and my kids hunt a lot over in western Osage county on family land and have permission to look a couple of other places in Pawnee county.
I hope you do post whatever you find and welcome to the wonderful world of TreasureNet :hello:.

Hey I know where Sand Creek is LOL. NW Osage Co is a really neat place to look. The Arkansas and Kaw Lake give up some nice stuff. My granny lived in Foracre when I was a kid and that place is really neat and I cant wait to break in my new metal detector out there. My hunting partner is my son as well (9 year old). Maybe we can hook our clans up someday and do a little arrowhead hunting/metal detecting.

ammo_u, first off welcome to the board from a southern Ohioan. I look forward to seeing your collection and finds from your shelter. The odd grooves you refered to in your shelter are more than likely grooves made from sharpening stone tools in the sandstone. Post some pics and I can you for sure.
