Arrived home from work tonight, took one look and my son and before we knew it we were back at the coast poking around in the pebbles, having found a nice ring there on the last trip. Whatever possessed us to go, I'll never know.
Sounds like a nice lead-in to a success story, but what I left out is that it was 16?F, sun set at 4:53pm and a steady wind was blowing (forgot about the windchill factor until the machine was already swinging). I really had put the detector into hibernation in the basement last week and thought I had gotten over the fact that the ground was too frozen to dig in (even most playground sand).
Tonight we had several good signals, couldn't reach any of them. Found a curious rock that read in the foil range, so that's pretty much what we brought home... a single rock. No pull tabs on this trip!
