what ? do you think i'm a mind reader ? pieces of what ? and some pictures would be a great help ?

Sorry Nomad. It was just a general question about undoing the finish on various pieces of broken hand forged iron I find on my property which I stupidly soaked in a phosphoric acid solution, instead of waiting to get evaporust. I like the black, original and with rust look on my pieces. I use them for various art projects, mostly to do with furniture.

Plus, I love digging things and trying to figure out what they are and possibly who held or used them.

I do not have internet on my phone and have no idea how to post pictures without it. I'd love to post them, as I have been metal detecting since 2013 and have tons of things I'd like to post, for educational purposes for others, and to get i.d.'s on some of the things.

I use "Iron Out" and it will leave a grey color but it is superficial. Take a brass brush and soap and water and the grey will leave. Quickly.
