Going to be in the 40's tomorrow, don't see to many people swimming this weekend again.

People from up north that are down there for the game might hit the beach (dry sand area), to them 40* is like summer compaired to 10* right outside my door. :icon_pirat:

I was going to say the same thing but you are right.... for people from up north what is cold to us is warm to them!

A few years ago I used to go down to Tarpon Springs with all of the other snow birds. You could spot us right off the bat, we were wearing shorts and tee's while the locals were donning their coats and such... LOL

Somewhere I have a pix of me using a wheel chair with balloon tires on the beach in the middle of February. My 1st day on vacation I blew my leg out... ;D

I tried - but with a wind-chill near freezing on the beaches around Tampa friday night, and a raining morning with near freezing temps yesterday, I could only stay on the beach about 20 minutes before I had to head for the warmth of the car.

In that 20 minutes of detecting, I found nothing but a few toys.

The weather today is supposed to be better in time for the game. But not many people on the beach for the past week due to the colder temps and high winds, so not much to find.

Another big cold front is supposed to hit Florida and the east coast of the US starting tomorrow, and people are being advised to travel early or expect to get stuck as east coast airports close due to the storm.

The only good news - this same storm is likely to cause beach erosion on the treasure coast, and I plan to be there later this week.

Arrived at Sebastian Inlet this afternoon. Hit one of the beaches north of the inlet bridge, and the wind chill was around 40 with a very stiff north wind.

The waves are blowing south, causing 2 to 4 foot cuts in the sand.

In the hour I was out there, I found a modern ear-ring, several square nails, two fishing lures, and a few lead fishing weights.

But the cold and wind and rising tide drove me off the beach.

Low tide is around 9:30 in the am - I'm hoping the temps will be above freezing by then.

And yes, this is Florida, and yes the temps tonight will be freezing.

I'm camping in Sebastian inlet state park in a motorhome, so I'll be warm tonight and ready to hunt tomorrow.
