Our weekly town newspaper announced they would be tearing up the street and sidewalk in front of the old rock Methodist Church. I kept my eye open for any signs of work, then on Wednesday I noticed the sidewalk and street gone on my way to pick up mail at the post office. Quickly headed back home, grabbed detector and off I went. Workers where tearing up further down the street so I did not worry about interfering with them. Right off the bat, my first signal was a penny. I could not see a date but by the condition it looked like a modern day coin and put it into my pouch. Detected remainder of area, across the street
in front of several houses with only a broken light bulb base, some unknown metal object in-cased in road tar. I forgot about the penny until I was on another hunt up north (another post) talking to a friend of mine and showing off my finds. He noticed that the penny was older than I thought, after further investigation through a magnification loop I found out it is either a 1947 or 1949 'S' Wheat penny. My first wheatie here in Washington state. Will post other finds later on.
Sorry for the fuzzy photograph and Thanks for looking.
