only got to give her a short trial run, about 30 minutes in the park, where I found a dollar in quarters, and on the beach in beach mode, found 85 cents there, one quarter on the beach at 8 inches down, I like the 7 tone ID, but still check the screen a lot, so far I love this detector, can't wait to give it a full days hunt, which I hope to do soon.....I'm happy.....can't wait to find what treasure awaits me ;D

congrats, Give us a report, Ive been looking but can't make up my mind :-\ between the m6 & MXT. What made you go with the M6?

It was a tough choice between the mxt and the M6, but the M6 won out, for ease of use, new electronics and coils and the dealer gave me a demonstration on various coins, caps, wire, foil etc...and the M6 picked it all the first shot
plus it has beach mode and automatic tracking,.....and it's cheaper....my friend has an MXT and an M6 for his wife, he says the M6 is just as good as the DFX or MXT....minus the prospecting mode or relic mode, but you can turn it to 0 disc and i can do some relic hunting too

I got mine in late January after researching lots of detectors.
From some of the reviews and online articles I read, the automatic tracking on the M6 is a bit better than the MXT and the DFX detectors.
And it uses the same coils the DFX and MXT uses.
Also it is easier to start detecting with it.You don't have to push buttons to get to your program you want to use, or push buttons to set volume or disc or sens....... like the DFX or MXT.

With the 950 stock coil, a 4X6 or 5.3, and maybe a 6X10 or a Super 12 inch coil..you should be able to go anywhere and detect.

Hello Rommelvon,
Great choice on the M6. I got mine in early June 07 and love the machine. It is great at pin pointing and when it says a quarter it IS a quarter. I have found $42.00 in clad and some jewlery since I have had the machine. Real easy to use and good depth. I am sure you will also be pleased.

You made a good choice I think. The only difference really between the M6 and MXT is the MXT has the Prospecting mode. If you don't see yourself in the future gold nugget hunting then why pay for that extra mode?

Welcome to the M-6 club! I've had mine since April or so, and the only thing I can't figure out, is why the heck they even bothered putting the discrimination knob on the machine! I pretty much always hunt with the discrimination at zero, and just listen to the tones!

For those comparing the M-6 to the MXT, I believe that th eMXT doesn't have the seven tone feature. That is what made the decision for me!

Thanks everyone, I have only been able to hunt a few hours with it so far, but every hunt has been productive, I went out for a few after dinner tnight in the field across the street and found 2 dimes and a brass dog whistle, which was at 9 inches down.....the M6 rocks......now if the weather would cool down a bit ;D
