After all my hard work on Saturday and Sunday putting in a new patio I needed a break so I went to my spot on the river to see if I would have any luck. I only found one good Point, but I found some nice Scrapers and Flake Knives, a nice old Milk Bottle, a little decorated tin that turned out be Avon, and an old ceramic seal for a Mason Jar. I was hoping the tin was older. I also got a video showing the reason the Indians like this stretch of the river and why there are several sites in the area.

Here's a few pictures of the hunt, my findings, and a picture of the tray of pieces from this spot.

Nice post..I always leave the non native American finds out of my posts...even when they happen when the focus of the hunt was artifacts. I love that you gave a look at the "real" finds the way they happened. I get some good "extras" too.

Ya'll sure have nice artifacts up there. But, Wow! I saw so many old tires in that video just crapping up the shore line. Nobody cares?

The tires were dumped there years ago to help deter erosion of the bank and have now worked their way down the bank and to the beach. There are probably a few hundred of them stuck into the high bank and mixed in with large rocks.

What a beautiful river to have all those tires along side of it. We have been pulling trash out of our creek every time we go and it has made a notable difference since we started the clean up 7 years ago. I've gained permission from some land owners because they know I'll take trash out with me.

I agree. I don't understand how they were allowed to basically just dump trash over the bank like that even if it was to help the bank from eroding away. If one of us were caught throwing a single tire over the bank we would be charged with littering.

We have a river clean up day here. It is a great time to fill your boat with old tires and junk and look for arrowheads. They call it river rescue. Several hundred people come out for it.

They do the same thing here but they usually just do it along the shore inside the city limits and then a few select areas.

We have an annual River's Alive event and it has been very successful. We (the county) provides volunteers with canoes and hosts a cook out after the clean up. We are pulled some strange items out the waterways too. Sunken boats,a drink machine from the 70s, engine block, washers, dryers, bikes, and wheel barrels. The weirdest item should have been no surprise. It was a blue plastic door to one of those job site outhouses made into a knee board. :laughing7: - Welcome to Georgia.

Why did the Indian's like that spot? The cold water? Nice video. What part of the country do you live in? And the redish color was iron? Can you tell me more?I see alot of different colors that arrowheads are in, here besides the Ga.red clay(dark grey, almost claylike, a dark goldish dirt type material. Its quite interesting.

He was pointing out natural springs along the rivers edge.

Found the same avon lookin deal on a road the other day, and that doll was pretty funny
