Oh my dear GOD... How many different answers to the same question must I endure?

I'm new here... never been here... found the site on a Google search and so far I hope it's an answer to a prayer. I started "hounding" last August and New Mexico is great place to start. So far the garage has become a shop, the gardens are all full of fine specimens and I've even sold a few things.

BUT, the one thing I can't seem to get a grip on is identification. There are some cool aps, but of course I only get an "idea" of what I'm holding.http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Which leads me here... a community of like minded, semi-house trained nice folks who just want to help and deserve to look smart, because they've earned it.

I'm posting a picture of one of my own interesting finds in hopes that someone here can definitively say what it is... I also hope to be of some help someday to someone here. I have hit about half the sites in the books on New Mexico and would gladly share my thoughts on those sites if anyone is ever coming this way. 20170524_140552.jpg20170524_140552.jpg

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: New Mexico for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Now - on your "find" - is it metal? Rock? Melted Glass? If you think it is a Rock/Gem - post your pictures on Geological > Rocks/Gems and ask for help. If you simply aren't sure it might be - consider posting it on Our Discoveries > What Is It?...

Welcome to the forum from Massachusetts!
